 I'm singing with Danny Ellis the Fella from Artane

Browsing in the bookstore,
near the cozy Cote D' Or,
I found a fellow Dubliner
I never met before.

His voice it was familiar,
his story just like mine,
As we sing, and work and wonder
While the healing takes its time.

So I took his book and read it,
Feeling hard against the throat
the pain, the knot, nostalgia
of the fairy tale he wrote.

He was hard in Artane
And me in Legion jail;

Now both of us survivors
Living far beyond the Pale.

So I feel him like a brother
For we each had to endure;
The Irish Christian Brothers
and Father Maciel's manure.

But we're singing loud and hearty
and laughing full of joy.
You can't keep us down forever.
We're the bauld auld Dublin boys.
